HPK-HSI team is facilitating an integrated horticulture market system, producing and marketing an increased quantity of products in improved quality and continuity (Q,Q&C) and offering the required business services (information & advice).
In HPK-HSI’s understanding an integrated market system has well established market relations between the actors on the value chain level, is capable to capture market opportunities and changes market practices to respond with improved and innovative solutions to existing and new market demand. The strategy to achieve large scale impact is focused on the key actors in the system. In the review of the current status of the horticulture sector and the project’s activities identified key actors with high leverage are aggregators. They act on different levels of the sub-sector’s value chain; their main functions are aggregation of produce (quantity), quality control and delivery in time (continuity) according to required standards agreed with the buyer. The project is focused on aggregators on different level (Collection Centres, Processor, Whole sellers and retailers) based on concrete market demand. The selected approach and the points of interventions in the market system are illustrated in the schema below. |
